The winners keep coming for the innovative Racing Club STRAIGHT BAT RACING and the credentials of its runners get richer and richer.

STRAIGHT BAT’s last addition was the well publicised chestnut FLY AMERICAN (by JET MASTER ex WEST WEST by DOLPOUR).  After placed efforts at 2, the Vaughan Marshall trained colt won first time out at 3 on 5th September at Kenilworth in STRAIGHT BAT’s bottle green and red colours.  Spread-eagling a 1200 metres field, FLY AMERICAN comfortably saw off his only serious challenger and won impressively.  The son of JET MASTER may well want 1400-1600 metres before long which introduces interesting possibilities.

Royal Ascot winner TITUS ALONE (IRE) (by TITUS LIVIUS ex SWANSEA by Kentucky Derby first SEA HERO) has won twice for STRAIGHT BAT RACING out of a total of six wins overall.  A feisty individual, hugely popular with STRAIGHT BAT RACING members, this fellow has tremendous finishing speed in sprints.

Managers Allan Bloodlines now announce that the new third horse will be CAPEGETAWAY, a 3 year old filly by another top sire JALLAD ex FOVEROS SONG by FOVEROS).   Like FLY AMERICAN, she ran promisingly at 2 and has been given a short break before joining the STRAIGHT BAT team for her 3 year old career.  CAPEGETAWAY is a very well bred half sister to EUROVISION (Gr.2 winner/Gr.1 placed) and U AINTSEENOTHINYET (multiple Listed winner and Gr.2/3 placed).

Sometimes the managers put in a fourth horse as a “Bonus Horse”  for STRAIGHT BAT RACING members at no extra charge and the remarkable bonus this time is a winning filly trained at Summerveld by Alistair Gordon to run in Durban with possible excursions to Johannesburg tracks.  SEVEN VEILS (by RICH MAN’S GOLD ex Cape Fillies Guineas 2nd SILKY DANCER) was a winner at 3 and will be aimed at further wins perhaps including valuable black type races.  Her older full sister SALOME is a three times winner.

“One of the great things about Straight Bat Racing,” said member Martin Locke “is that they don’t put horses in until they are ready to run and progress.  So we don’t have all that long waiting after a yearling purchase.”

An interest in three or four horses in training, with constant communication, is incredible value at R 7980 (£640, €730, $1070) for a full 12 months (payment options available – 12 months starts when you join) and members are delighted with the amount of communication that they get in regular NewsMemos, with the Club’s representative Joanne Knowles keeping in touch.   Whether enjoying a welcome on the racecourse or watching on Tellytrack or catching up after a run, STRAIGHT BAT RACING’s members feel well looked after.

For information on Memberships call Joanne Knowles on 083 399 6353 (in SA) or Sascha Mills on 01932 350660 (in UK) or email or look on
