LION RIVER SUPPORTS TIGER DANCE
Vintage Yearling Sale goes well for first crop sire
13th Mar 2010
At the Equimark Vintage Yearling Sale today and yesterday, yearlings by first crop sire TIGER DANCE were presented for sale. Seven yearlings averaged R 80,000 with the top few being Lot 103, R 160,000 (Joey Ramsden for one of the country's top owners Mr Markus Jooste), Lot 114, R 100,000 (Vaughan Marshall for a previously successful owner returning to racing) both fillies with nice pedigrees and Lot 151, R 90,000 a colt (also Joey Ramsden for an undisclosed client).
Excerpt from European Bloodstock News as follows:
Allan Bloodlines, a regular buyer and manager of racing, breeding and stallion syndicates in South Africa, paid R 70,000 for Lot 43, a colt by first season sire TIGER DANCE, full brother to GIANT'S CAUSEWAY, out of a winning mare by past champion sire AL MUFTI. The purchase was for UK based David Kerrison, owner of newly established Lion River Stud and majority owner of TIGER DANCE.
"The colt was worth over R 100,000 in this market," commented David Allan "except for some bumps and bangs from a float accident which vetted fine. David was keen to support the stallion and shareholders early in the sale".
The colt will be trained in Cape Town by Vaughan Marshall who has supported the stud operation. Joey Ramsden also did so strongly and in addition to his purchases above will be sent a number of Tiger Dance yearlings from the farm.
