J&B Met, Winelands, Stud Visits and Social Events all on the agenda

18th Mar 2010

Want to spend time in beautiful Cape Town at the height of its summer? AND go to a top-class yearling sale offering modest prices? AND attend the brilliant J&B Met Day at Kenilworth in style? AND visit Stud Farms and the Winelands? AND race in a gorgeous place at modest cost with great prize ratio and a growing international profile?

The announcement of a glamorous new Select Yearling Sale bang in the middle of Cape Town to take place 28/29 January 2011 has electrified the South African Racing & Breeding community, already responsible for an increasing number of internationally successful runners at the highest level.

About 350 yearlings that might normally go to the National Sale in Johannesburg will be offered.  The whole affair is sponsored by five major studs including the ever enterprising Klawervlei, Graham Beck’s Highlands, the sister stud of Gainesway, and Mary Slack’s impeccable Wilgerbosdrift.  Entries are open to all studs under a strict set of selection criteria and Bloodstock South Africa, which runs the Nationals and many other sales, will be the operator.

The sale will be in the cavernous, air-conditioned International Convention Centre (akin to the UK’s National Exhibition Centre or Olympia) located adjacent to the famous Cape Town Waterfront with Table Mountain as the backdrop.  The centre is handy for all forms accommodation whether the five and four star hotels on the Waterfront itself or adjacent to the centre.  Alternative B&Bs abound as well as gorgeous places to stay 20 or 30 minutes away.  This is our stamping ground!

Hospitality?  Buyers of yearlings can expect assistance with air fares and accommodation and invitations to the Met and to one of the best Stud Farm-hosted lunch parties in the bloodstock world on one of Klawervlei's properties in the gorgeous mountain scenery near the University and Wine centre of Stellenbosch, an hour out of town.

Contact Allan Bloodlines on or call David Allan on 01932 350660 or 07774 697640 for more information.

Stunning surroundings, great place to be, and good quality stock at a fraction of the price of Saratoga and Deauville, Newmarket and Lexington, Kildare and - for that matter - The Gold Coast.
