FILLIES RETIRE TO STUD
Klawervlei sire National Emblem features strongly
17th Jul 2010
Two Allan fillies have retired from racing in South Africa and will start their careers as broodmares soon. Both were Allan Bloodlines purchases at the National Yearling Sales.
SEVEN VEILS, a R 200,000 buy, is a daughter of the now deceased Wilgerbosdrift stallion RICH MAN\'S GOLD. Out of a black type CITIDANCER mare, she won three races - two in the colours of STRAIGHT BAT RACING - and placed in several more and was Listed placed.
KIMIGAIO who cost R 330,000 is a very big but elegant daughter of Klawervlei Stud\'s excellent sire NATIONAL EMBLEM out of a HARRY HOTSPUR mare. Having occasional niggles, this 1,000 metre sprinter ended up winning 2 races and placing in most of her other runs.
Allan has been a substantial patron of NATIONAL EMBLEM and his stock relatively speaking. A number of yearling purchases by the sire have included KIMIGAIO, twice a winner, SELIKA once a winner and dam of two nice foals, ASAHI, virus ravaged but a lovely filly in foal for the first time, and IMPERIAL FOX, a quirky grey who has won several times and would have been sold to Hong Kong for a good price but for quarantine related problems.
In the Allan broodmare band, triple winner SUNNYDALE has a NATIONAL EMBLEM filly foal to add to her CAPTAIN AL colt, COUNT AGAIN produced a NATIONAL EMBLEM colt who sadly needed a foster mother when his dam died after complications foaling and partnership mare ELEGANT - all five of her progeny of racing age are multiple winners with one black type placed - has a NATIONAL EMBLEM filly.
