Allan bred filly has finished 2nd, 2nd, 1st

1st Oct 2011

Bred by David Allan, SUNNYDALE\'s first foal DAZZ AL won her maiden today at Clairwood having been 2nd in her two earlier outings.

The bay daughter of CAPTAIN AL, purchased by trainer Alec Laird from Allan when consigned by Hemel \'n Aarde Stud to the 2010 National Yearling Sales, came up against an Australian bred daughter of ELUSIVE QUALITY, trained by Mike de Kock and running in the Shadwell colours. ALJAWHARA (Aus) looks to be a very good filly in the making but today was held off by DAZZ AL.  Congratulations to owners Mr & Mrs Boon and to Alec.

SUNNYDALE was also bred by Allan (in Ireland) and sent unraced to South Africa where she won three races and placed five times in ten outings.  By Allan\'s much loved son of NIJINSKY SHAHRASTANI (Epsom and Irish Derby winner re-imported from Japan by Allan Bloodlines in 1998) SUNNYDALE is a rarity being out of a mare by the great and more or less historic HABITAT.  Her page is extraordinary, with no less than nine Group 1 winners or placed in her 1st and 2nd dams.

SUNNYDALE\'s 2 year old is a NATIONAL EMBLEM filly in training with Brett Crawford and she has just produced a NATIONAL EMBLEM colt.  Also resident at Hemel \'n Aarde is this mare\'s half sister by DARSHAAN.  Dam of winners including small black type in England, MESSILA ROSE is in foal to the ROCK OF GIBRALTAR Gr.1 winner SEVENTH ROCK.
