New Tiger Dance ownership coincides with good performances on the racecourse and at the sales

24th March 2012

TIGER DANCE, the full brother to one of the best stallions in the world GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (Storm Cat – Mariah’s Storm by Rahy), has a fresh start under new ownership, coinciding with good results on the racecourse and at the sales.

DRUK MY NIET WINE ESTATE AND STUD is comprised of Georg and Dorothee Kirchner’s well established Wine Estate in Paarl and their recently purchased DRUK MY NIET STUD operation at Tulbagh that includes TIGER DANCE, a stallion who could yet be an important horse to South African breeding.

It is no great surprise that the successful wine farmers have bought a stud farm because they had and still have a number of horses in training, including Stakes winners MISS SCARAMANGA and OCEAN OF TIME and some of their wines bear the name and image of a horse.

Allan Bloodlines has been closely associated with TIGER DANCE, concentrating on the extraordinary merits of the stallion during the creation of his current winners and is very pleased to have been asked to take up the promotional reins again for this entirely new ownership, other than the individual shareholdings of several established breeders in the Western Cape.

Vaughan Marshall’s TRIBAL DANCE (Tiger Dance – Navajo Angel by Vettori) will have improved greatly since his excellent Gr.1Investec Cape Derby 3rd to JACKSON.  Tilts at moreof the biggest prizes may now be in store for him.   TIGER TIGER (Tiger Dance – Wine for Winnie by Defrere) won impressively last week for Paul Reeves beating winners, first time out at 2.   Another 2012 winner the 3yo TIGER PARTY (Tiger Dance – Crystal Charm by Allied Flag) should be watched, having been sent out by Doug Campbell to finish 2nd and 1st over Classic distances in Durban.  They have them in Joburg too and Lucky Houdalakis’s well-regarded TIGER FLASH (Tiger Dance – Justamossa by Hard Up) won well at The Vaal earlier this month and is entered up again, with the mare likely to return to TIGER DANCE.

It was noticeable that Paul Reeves and Vaughan Marshall both bought Tiger Dance yearlings at Book 2, and the best price came from Fred Crabbia at

R 160,000 for a very smart Tiger Dance colt.

Statistics can be made to say anything but in TIGER DANCE’s case they show ambition.  With only 85 runs this season from his limited crops of nevertheless good individuals, he has more than 10% wins.  DYNASTY and JET MASTER operate at 13-14% while 10% is in the same area as SILVANO, CAPTAIN AL, FORT WOOD and COUNT DUBOIS.  Of course they are working from established, far larger volume but the ambition is thus defined: To maintain and improve TIGER DANCE’s strike rate while considering him to be a horse of such superb connections that he can become a substantial contributor to South African breeding.

His fee for 2012 will be announced soon and in the meantime for further enquiries please call
