Bloodstock South Africa event is growing nicely

21st May 2015

At the leafy Kleinplasie Showground in Worcester, Western Cape, David inspected a list of mares whose pedigrees, coverings and covering dates offered what he believed to be the better opportunities at various budgets.

The upshot was that Allan Bloodlines accounted for eight mare purchases at the sale yesterday:  six for clients present who were kind enough to ask for advice and two for our own and/or partnership purposes.
One of those two is a small but exciting OASIS DREAM mare from the prolific WASNAH/BAHRI family of Shadwell in foal to “our” ELUSIVE FORT and with a DAN DE LAGO colt at foot.  The foal was sold soon afterwards for collection after weaning and the mare will visit VERCINGETORIX.  Although a generation away from greatness, this little mare has produced two cracking, good sized foals and – a winner herself in spite of lack of inches – is a most exciting prospect.
The other is a lovely grey almost white mare by the immensely successful broodmare sire NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.  Dam of a winner by recent Gr1 sire COUNT DUBOIS, in foal to him again, and from a prolific family, this mare – TIBETAN STONE – will be owned in partnership by ourselves and Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud (who know the family well) and a new, professional investor from the UK.
