BULLION WINS IMPRESSIVELY
Vaughan Marshall's colt well on the way to justifying his price tag

At the National Yearling Sales in Johannesburg in April 2006, Allan Bloodlines signed for the purchase of a chestnut colt by RICH MAN'S GOLD. The prolonged bidding battle, shown on live TV, involved Allan close associate and champion trainer Vaughan Marshall, on the phone to
owner Lindsay Ralphs, matching bids with Mary Slack, champion owner/breeder, of Wilgerbosdrift where RICH MAN'S GOLD stood until his recent demise. The Marshall/Allan team prevailed at a price of R 950,000.Due to South Africa's unique practice of having breeder/vendors name their yearlings, the colt came with the name BULLION and nobody argued with the choice. After a steady preparation and a promising placed first run over too short a trip for a big colt, Marshall sent out BULLION last night to win at Greyville over 1400 metres, showing a considerable turn of foot once he had found his stride. After recovering from a virus that affected several yards early in the year, the Marshall string is in flying form.
