By now, the association between certain Kazakh owners and Allan Bloodlines has developed into firm friendship following several visits in both directions. For three years, purchases from Tattersalls - either at the Autumn Horses in Training, December Fillies or February Sale have resulted in track records being set and broken and many but not yet all of the leading races being won.

In the current year, one 4 year old - Flying Key - has flown right to the top and, having won several top prizes, was unlucky in the valuable President's Cup finishing fourth after losing lengths at the start. But the 3 year olds, purchased in the strong market of late 2006, were less successful, only one of them winning (twice) and another looking a good 4 year old prospect over distance.

At the Horses in Training Sale at Tattersalls this week, the Allan Bloodlines team and the visiting clients concentrated hard on development potential and bought five lovely fillies at sensible prices. A squad by Night Shift x 2, Noverre, Barathea and Captain Rio is heading for Almaty with high hopes of returning to or exceeding the heights hit in 2004-6 on the track in this most exciting of countries.

Meanwhile, back home, the first foals of the best of the earlier winners are about to turn into yearlings.
